Planning for Baby's first photoshoot

As a mom of 3 myself, I have a little (LOL) experience when it comes to preparing for baby's first photoshoot. This is such an exciting time in new parents' lives. . . filled with anticipation, love and just being so proud of your new little bundle of joy! Not to mention mom's recent life changing experience of childbirth.

So when it comes time to sit down and have some photos taken of your baby, I've got a few tips to get you prepared!

Try to plan the shoot at baby's best time of day. Now I know you might not really know when this is yet. :) But bathing the baby, feeding him after naptime is a good start. You don't want to try and get a tired and hungry baby to lay down and say cheese for the photographer!

If the photog brings the studio to your home, you're in luck! Especially if the photog has some experience shootin' babies, they will definitely be more understanding when it's time to feed baby and give em a diaper change. And, you will surely get a kick when your baby decides to pee or spitup on your photog's props! What can you do but laugh and jot a new memory down in your baby journal.

And a quick note for mom and dad. DO jump in there and have a family portrait taken. This moment in time when baby is sooooo little is priceless. Irreplaceable. Like I said being a mommy of 3 I understand and relate to you new mommies. Most of us moms gain a little weight being preggers. Please don't let that stop you from gettin in front of the camera. It's not just documenting your baby's new life in your family - it's for all of you! Your new baby will thank you when he's older.

Lastly, a thought for dad. Be extra thoughtful and kind to the mommy of your new baby! Between going through lifechanging experience of having a baby, recovering possibly from surgery, to hormones going nuts and lack of sleep. . . us mommies need all the support we can get.
